Valley Christian took a part a strong Sac-Joaquin Section, easily winning in Vacaville.
The Warriors rolled up 541 yards and scored on long run and pass plays for the victory. Bryan Marshall led the way with 179 rushing yards in 17 carries, including touchdown runs of 50 and 32 yards.
Jarrod Lawson added 101 rushing yards in three carries and caught two passes for 61 yards, scoring on touchdown runs of 70 and 32 yards.
Quarterback Zach Vaiana completed 6 of 9 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Kicker Phil Ramirez added field goals of 24 and 33 yards.
“We had a long bus ride and just came and played sharp,” Valley Christian coach Mike Machado said. “Our guys played physical and also tough team defense.”
Valley Christian did give up its first touchdown of the season when Vacaville scored in the first quarter on a 5-yard run by Curtis Goins.

•Head coach Terry Stark’s Wing-T at Inderkum is proving to be every bit as explosive as last season. The Tigers have reached 63 points exactly in all three of their outings so far – 63-12 vs. Chavez of Stockton, 63-13 vs. Florin of Sacramento and 63-21 vs. Riordan of San Francisco. We may not find out just how good Inderkum is, however, until the team hosts D1 Monterey Trail of Elk Grove in two weeks.

While the Bishop Gorman at De La Salle game on Saturday has national impact, the Friday night matchup between Valley Christian at a streaking Vacaville has more meaning to these rankings and should be quite an affair.
After Valley Christian had dismantled Cardinal Newman 34-0 on the road in Santa Rosa, Warriors’ head coach Mike Machado addressed the team and told them this even before he knew that Vacaville had pulled off a 47-23 upset on the road at Granite Bay.
“Vacaville will be ready for us. They’re a quality program. This week, we need to be sure to take the steps each day and every second on the field to improve.”
Even with a turf toe and on extra long natural grass at Newman, Valley Christian junior standout running back Byron Marshall rushed for 156 yards and one score on a 44-yard run.
Last week’s Defensive Player of the Week, Jamaal Rose, led the defense once again, finishing with 13 tackles and four of the eight sacks of the Cardinals’ quarterback.
Vacaville comes in with a powerful offensive line and a running game of its own. If the Bulldogs line can get a big push up front and keep Rose and his mates from penetrating across the line of scrimmage, this could be a dandy.

#3 Valley Christian, San Jose (2-0) at #9 Vacaville (3-0) 7:30PM: Both teams have to feel like they are looking in the mirroe some when watching each other as Valley Christian and Vacaville will bring in well-oiled running attacks to control the game. The Warriors are led by junior running back Byron Marshall, who is a dynamic player that puts a lot of stress on a defense. For Vacaville, there are a number of runners to look for, including Quincy Forte and his 119 rushing yards per game. Also, look for the quartebacks, Zach Vaiana of Valley Christian and Tyler Irwin of Vacaville, to have an impact on this contest to give offensive balance. However, thebig question is how Vacaville does against a Valley Christian defense that hasn't allowed a point in it's first two games with linebacke Jaamal Rose leading the way. This one should live up to the hype, but with Marshall on offense and a very good defense, the Warriors get an impressive road win. Valley Christian wins 28-21

The Sac Bee's Section Top 10 Football Teams
Four weeks in and we're starting to get a pretty good feel of teams in the Sac-Joaquin Section. A closer look....
Sacramento Bee Section Top 10
1. Grant (3-0)
Routed Lincoln-Stockton 56-20 and dominated all phases, including special teams with Puka Lopa recovering fumbled punt snap for TD.
2. Vacaville (3-0)
Bulldogs rolled up a stunning 573 yards of offense against Granite Bay, 482 on the ground in a 47-23 win.
3. Folsom (2-1)
Bulldogs are rolling again, crushing an athletic Sacramento team 62-15 in making the Dragons look lost, leading 55-8 at the half behind brothers Tanner and Tyler Trosin.
4. Pleasant Grove (4-0)
Eagles are young, yes, but growing fast, leading Laguna Creek 28-0 at the half in 35-16 win as Mark Jenkins rushed for 194 yards and 3 touchdowns.
5. Nevada Union (2-1)
Miners trailed Chico 23-21 at the half before rolling 50-26 as Josiah Paye passed for 3 touchdowns and Devyn Grimes rushed for 163 and 3 total touchdowns.
6. St. Mary's-Stockton (2-1)
Rams were tied with national heavyweight De La Salle 14-14 at the half before the wheels flew off and the engine seized to the tune of eight absorbed sacks in 40-14 loss.
7. Oak Ridge (4-0)
Trojans are more than the real deal. Balanced, well coached, hungry for more after belting Del Oro 44-24 behind Will Tostenson-Willie Tucker connection.
8. Napa (4-0)
Indians are doing it with defense, with two shutouts, including 43-0 rout of Vallejo. Host Vacaville on Oct. 8 in monster MEL showdown.
9. Rocklin (3-1)
Thunder showed championship resolve in scoring two fourth-quarter touchdowns to beat Del Campo 14-10; B.J. Roberts keyed defense with two sacks, late pick.
10. Turlock (4-0)
Top ranked by Modesto Bee with nifty 24-21 win over 3-0 Modesto. Also routed Oakdale, which nearly toppled Granite Bay.
